Naomi Evans

Naomi Gay Henson Evans of St. Albans was a quiet, caring, wise and respected woman, 90 years old, passed away at Rolling Meadows Place, Scott Depot on April 16, 2017. She was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband, Charles L. Evans, Jr.; parents, Glen W. Henson and Bessie Jacobs Henson; sister Dolores Brown and her husband John Brown; brothers, Sheldon Henson and Glendon Henson; brothers-in-law, Robert Evans and William Evans and sister-in-law Norma Evans Casdorph. Naomi was a graduate of Sissonville High School and West Virginia State College. She was a dedicated first grade teacher at Alban Elementary School with 20 years of service. In addition, Naomi was a sixty year member of St. Andrew United Methodist Church, St. Albans where she was active in Sunday school, Chancel Choir, United Methodist Women, Vacation Bible School and the mission committee. She had also been an active member of First Baptist women’s exercise group, WVU CEO (Community Educational Outreach), St. Albans Community Chorus and had served as Cub Scout den mother and Girl Scout leader for Bill’s and Margaret’s troops. She is survived by son; William Evans, his wife, Cindy and granddaughter, Leah; daughter, Margaret Theodos, her husband, Andrew and grandson Peter. Naomi is also survived by her brother, Bernard Henson and his wife, Joyce; sister, Vada Kepler and her husband Keith; sisters-in-law, Norma Henson, Edna Henson, Bonnie Evans and Shirley Evans; brother-in-law, Merle Casdorph and many nieces and nephews. Funeral service will held at 11:00am Saturday April 22, 2017 at St. Andrew United Methodist Church, St. Albans with the Rev. Dr. Ed Grant officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery, Charleston. Visitation will be from 9:30am until service time, Saturday at the church. The family extends special thanks to the staff of Rolling Meadows Place. The love and compassion that you shared with Mom for the last three years was a blessing to our family. Also thanks to Ciara, Lea Ann and Melissa of HospiceCare. Your gentle care and guidance was a wonderful help through the last stages of Mom’s illness.
