Dennis Ledford Jr.

On February 18th, 2025 Dennis "Denny" Fleet Ledford Jr. took his first breath in Heaven. He was met at the gates by his beautiful wife of 59 years Linda Sharon Ledford holding their two baby boys. To help her escort him to the throne were his mother and father Ruby Mae and Dennis Fleet Ledford Sr. along with sisters Edith Wells, Beverly Cole, Elizabeth Dozier, Sydna Cavender and brothers John Ledford, Richard Ledford, Billy Haynes, Averol Cavender, John Turley and Jerry Turley. Denny was born in Kimball WV on December 26, 1939. Later in life he served in the United States Airforce and was stationed in Greenland as a Airman 2nd class. It wasn't until one hot summer day that the stars aligned and he met the love of his life on Ocean View Beach in Virginia that his life really began. Denny and Linda married on September 15th, 1961 and built their life and family in West Virginia where he worked as the Director of the West Virginia State Tax Department Programming Division for 30 years. Denny enjoyed golfing, watching WVU football and basketball. He was an avid marble collector with over 10,000 in his collection. Denny was proud to be an American and loved his county but most importantly he was a proud Christian who loved Jesus with all his heart and soul. While Denny lived his life for the Lord he also lived it for his two girls. To say this man lived every day with the goal to love and take care of his wife Linda and beautiful daughter Stephanie Lynn Ledford (who he affectionately referred to as Neff) would be an understatement. After Linda's passing Denny never left Neff's side and they built a home and a life together which was both of their dreams. In their new home they enjoyed countless laughs and loved sitting in their matching Chiefs pj's watching and rooting for the Kansas City Chiefs and watching old movies, playing with his furbabies, listening to Stephanie sing and dance around and during the summer enjoying the pool. Denny was sweet, loving and full of life. He had dimples and a smile that could melt you on the spot. Charisma and charm that was undeniable and hugs that could make anyone feel loved, safe and at home. Left to carry on his legacy and memory is his baby girl Stephanie Lynn Ledford. His furbaby Sassy and fur grandbaby Snowball. Sister Lynn Leroy ( Steve ) of Maryland. While Denny leaves behind tons of nieces and nephews who were all special to him he also had an extra special bond with nieces Linda Gail Simmons, Karen Lee Kosior, Savannah Lee Arnold, Jeanine McKinney, Dawn Crawford and nephews Jeff Cavender, Brandon Cavender, Kellen McCure, Conner Perry, brother in law Paul Turley (Sarah) and sister in law Sherry Haynes. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, February 21, 2025 at Bartlett-Nichols Funeral Home, St. Albans with Pastors, David Bess, Scott Haynes and Mark Turley officiating. Burial will follow in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans, Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service.
