Emogene Lou Robertson

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Emogene Lou Robertson (Momo), who went home to be with her Lord and Savior on February 23, 2025. A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she was a pillar of love and faith, always reflecting God’s grace through her kind heart and unwavering devotion. Born on May 18,1934 in Garrett’s Bend, West Virginia to the late Thomas J. and Mabel Pearl McDowell. She was preceded in death by numerous brothers and sisters, including her twin sister Eugene L. Lawhorn. She is now reunited with her dear husband, Herbert W. Robertson, with whom she lovingly shared 58 years of marriage. Their love was a beautiful testament to faith, commitment, and the power of a life built on Christ. Emogene was a country girl who never missed an opportunity to talk about God’s goodness, to share a story about the old home place, or proudly brag about her family, who were her greatest joy. Above all, Emogene was a faithful member of Washington Street church of Christ, in St. Albans, WV. Emogene had a warm and gentle spirit, always greeting others with a smile. She retired from the C&P Telephone company after 40+ years of service and during her retirement years, she volunteered at Thomas Hospital. She found joy in embroidery, solving puzzles, and caring for her cherished cat, Elsa. Emogene found joy in life’s simple pleasures—feeling the warm sand beneath her feet at the beach, admiring the delicate beauty of a rose, and savoring the taste of homegrown tomatoes and fresh-picked strawberries. She had a deep appreciation for nature’s gifts, always taking the time to enjoy the little things that made life sweet. Throughout her life, she was actively involved in countless church functions and found great fulfillment in serving her community. She also co-led a 4-H club, where her dedication and leadership earned her the esteemed honor of becoming a West Virginia 4-H All Star. Emogene lived the majority of her life by her husband’s side where they created memories together, including competing in bowling leagues, cross country traveling and enjoying local football games together. Through every season of life, her faith remained strong, and she lived each day as a testament to God’s love. She carried a love for her home state in her heart, but her true home was always in the Lord. She leaves behind a family who will forever cherish her memory: her daughters Teresa Eagle (Roy) of WV and Dawn Lemley (Robert) of NC; her grandchildren Brooke Mott (Dan) of NC, Jessica Huls (Jesse) of MN and Joseph Lemley of NC; great-grandchildren Kasen and Axel, and numerous nieces and nephews, extended family members, and friends. A service to celebrate her life will be held on March 8 at Bartlett- Nichols in St. Albans, WV with visitation at 10:00 am and a service to follow at 11:00 am., with Pastor Eddie Cooper officiating. Interment will follow at Cunningham Memorial Park.
