Lucille Davisson

Mildred “Lucille” Kemper Davisson, 95, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away peacefully on May 18, 2018 in Charlottesville, VA. She was born November 8, 1922 in Doddridge Co, WV and was married to Russell Lee Davisson in 1944 while he was serving in the U.S. Navy. They were blessed with 71 years of marriage. After his death she moved to Charlottesville, VA. Lucille was an elementary school teacher starting in a one room school house. After raising their 3 children, she returned to school to become a licensed practical nurse. They were residents of St Albans, WV for 45 years and then moved to Hurricane, WV to be closer to the golf course. She won many golf tournaments, not stopping until she was 85. They were avid WVU sport fans and authored genealogy books on the Davisson and White families. She loved this country, was active in the Republican Party and was a member of the Albemarle Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. A devout Christian, she was a member of Highlawn Baptist Church of St Albans and First Baptist Church of Hurricane. “Sweet” and “nice” was how she was described by all. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Lee Davisson and son, Daniel Lee Davisson. She is survived by her daughters and their spouses, Andrea and Jack Kenna of E Dubuque, IL and Nancy and Kline Bolton of Charlottesville, VA. “Nana” loved being near her six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. A Memorial service will be held at 1:00pm Sat, June 23, at Chapman Funeral Home Hurricane, followed by a reception to celebrate her life at The Hampton Inn 4190 Rt 34, Hurricane.
