Marie Emma (Balazs) Knight

Marie Emma (Balazs) Knight, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, after a brief illness. Marie was born on November 15, 1929, in Kanawha City, West Virginia, the fifth daughter of Carl and Emma Heintz. She worked in various vocations having most recently retired from the West Virginia State Tax Department after 25 years of loyal service. During her early tenure with the Tax Department, Marie was instrumental in developing the department’s Main File data processing system. She later transferred to the property Tax Division, contributing to that division’s success prior to her retirement. Marie was a devout Christian, attending Saint Francis, Maranatha Fellowship and Grace Life Churches; and was most recently a Media Church member of Jimmy Swaggart Ministries. She and her husband Jerry together walked closely with the Lord, and everyone who knew Marie knows that she is now serving with and for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She is preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Emma Heintz; first husband, Arthur Balazs; son, Michael Balazs; sisters, Dorathy Valley, Charlotte Webb and Kathleen Petry. Marie is survived by her husband, Jerry A. Knight; sons, Christopher and Steven Balazs; grandchildren, James Balazs (Kristina), Lisa Auker (Corey), Andrew Balazs, Brooke Dunham (Jared), and Aubrey Matkovick (Michael); great-grandchildren, Ambrielle and Bishop Balazs, Liam Auker, Jaelyn Dunham, and Julia and Blain Matkovick. In keeping with Marie’s wishes, her body will be cremated and there will not be any funeral services or memorials. Marie simply wanted everyone to remember her when she was with us and she walked and lived her life for the Lord. Those who knew Marie will miss her dearly, but we all will have consolation in knowing that she ran the good course and that she is now in the loving care of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
