Rachel Dawn Redman

Rachel Dawn Redman, 36, of Charleston, WV, left this world on January 13, 2025, after courageously battling a long illness. She was preceded in death by her father, Rex Alan Abshire; her paternal uncle, Jason R. Abshire; her paternal uncle, Michael E. Abshire; her paternal grandfather, Joe Eddie Abshire; her husband, Winston Kent Redman; her sister, Lindsey Nicole Paul; her maternal grandfather, Harold D. Green; and her fiancé, Brandon Appleton. Rachel is survived by her beautiful "miracle" daughter, Vayda Madilyn Redman; her mother, Melanie K. Paul; her beloved niece, Gracie Nicole Smith; her maternal grandmother, Ginger K. Green; her paternal grandmother, Regina L. Abshire; her maternal uncle, Dean Green (Melissa, Rylea & Kendyl); her paternal uncle, Joe Abshire (Diane); her favorite paternal aunt, Sandy Abshire; and her cousins, Nicholas D. Green (Kristen & Parker); Sean Abshire; Keith Abshire; Alex Abshire; Ashley Abshire; and Damon Abshire. She is also survived by her loyal dog, Klaus, who she adored, along with many friends and loved ones who will always cherish her memory. A special thank you to Roger Brogan who fostered Klaus and has given him a loving home. Known for her kindness, Rachel had a genuine, loving heart. She never met an animal that didn't immediately bond with her and had an enduring love for all of Mother Earth's creatures. Throughout her life, Rachel faced many hardships but continued to persevere with grace, battling her illnesses until her final days. In accordance with Rachel’s wishes, there will be no memorial service, but her family and friends will gather for a Celebration of Rachel’s Life at a later date. The family requests, in honor of Rachel's love of animals, that any donations be made to an animal shelter in her memory. As Rachel often said, "Don't mourn me when I'm gone because I finally made it home." May her loving spirit bring comfort and peace to all who knew and loved her.
