Timothy H. "Horton" Price

In his passing the world lost a great Dad, Grandad, Son, Brother, Uncle, Cousin, and Friend. Timothy H. Price, known as “Horton” to many, passed away unexpectantly on Thursday March 28th. Tim was born Sept. 27, 1952 in Charleston to Ida and Jake Price Jr. He was preceded in death by his Dad Jake Price of St. Albans, and nephew Jacob Price of St. Albans. He was a 1970 graduate of St. Albans High School and proud alumni. Tim started his career as an instrument technician at Union Carbide and used his training to become an independent technician travelling all over the United States working to fit his schedule. He later became an instrument tech for Pipefitters Local 625 from where he retired. Tim was an avid golfer and spent many an enjoyable hour at Big Bend Golf Course. He joked that while on an assignment in the Virgin Islands he flew back to enter an annual golf tournament saying he spent a thousand dollars to win a ten dollar trophy. He enjoyed his weekly rounds with various members of Moose Lodge 868 where he was a long time member. When not on the golf course, Tim enjoyed gardening, bird watching, spending time on the Price family farm, cooking and smoking delicious meals for his friends and family. He recently had won 1st place in a chili contest at the St. Albans Moose Lodge where he was to go compete in the statewide contest. Tim was also an avid Mountaineer Fan, holding front row season tickets for many years. He enjoyed tailgating in the RV lot with many other Mountaineer fans, who would gather around to enjoy one of his famous “Tangers” made by his equally famous 2 cycle blender! He lost his voice many times cheering on the Mounties, which according to several people, wasn’t necessarily a bad thing. Three years ago Tim found a brand new passion. His Grandson, Jacob. He was the light of his life and couldn’t wait to spend time with him. Tim had just recently returned from a trip up to Massachusetts visiting him, his daughter, and several friends before his passing. Tim is survived by: Daughter Nicole Voudren(Mike) and Jacob of Massachusetts; Step sons Erik Jacobs of Massachusetts; Jason Jacobs of Arizona; Mother Ida M. Price of Scott Depot; Sister Sandra Phinney (Paul) of Colorado; Brother Kevin of St. Albans; Nieces Lauren Larson (Chris) of Colorado; Alison Harvey (Phil) of Colorado; Nephews Eric Phinney (Lisa) of Kuala Lumpur; Orry Price of St. Albans, a host of great nieces and nephews, cousins, and aunt, and special friend Teresa Kern. Funeral service will be held at 7:00 pm Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at Bartlett-Chapman Funeral Home, St. Albans with the Rev. Barry Moll officiating. Friends may call from 5 to 7 pm at the funeral home.
