Virginia "Carol" King

Virginia “Carol” King, 86, of St. Albans, went home to be with the Lord on December 16th, after a long illness. She was surrounded by her family as she peacefully entered the gates of heaven. Carol was born November 9, 1938 to the late Frederick and Francis (Walker) Ingram of Charleston. She was a 1957 graduate of Stonewall Jackson High School in Charleston WV. After graduating Carol would go on to work at Cox’s department store in St. Albans WV, as well as the Eye and Ear Clinic and Shawnee Hills Rehabilitation Center in Charleston WV. Carol was married to her beloved husband of 56 years, the late John King. Together, along with their daughter Susie, through John’s service in the United States Army, they would live in many places including Germany, before settling in St. Albans WV in 1967. Carol was a devoted wife to John, as well as mother to her only child, Susie, and grandma to her two adoring grandkids Audra and Isaac. Her most beloved role, besides that of wife, mother and grandma, was that of being a child of God. Carol was a long-time member of Abney Street Church of God in St. Albans, WV, where she was very active through the years, singing in the choir, and teaching Sunday School, as well as being involved in other ministries within the church. Carol is survived by her daughter Susie Watts (Harold) of Eleanor, her grandchildren Audra Watts (Tyler Ball) of Barboursville and Isaac Watts of Eleanor, step grandchildren Lindsey Wick of Scott Depot and Brittany Watts of Louisville Ky, sisters Rosemary Marion of St. Albans, and Joanne Parker of Florida, as well as several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband John King, parents Frederick and Francis Ingram, and brothers Charles and Danny Ingram, as well as brothers in law, Pete Marion and Harold Parker. Carol and her family wanted to personally thank the wonderful people at Hospice of Charleston, especially her personal care team of Jennifer, Sarah, and Melinda, who took wonderful care of her during her illness. She wanted to also thank Amy L. at the St. Mary’s Infusion Center in Huntington WV. In lieu of flowers Carol would ask that you make a contribution to Abney Street Church of God, at abneystreetchurch.org/donate to help further grow the Kingdom of God, or to the Hospice facility of Charleston to enable them to continue the wonderful service and care that they provide. There will be a Funeral service to honor Carols life on Saturday, December 21 at 1 o’clock at the Abney Street Church of God in St. Albans, WV. Burial will take place at Cunningham Memorial Park in St. Albans, WV. There will be a visitation of friends and family 1 hour prior to her memorial service.
