Adeline Greer Skelton Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Adeline Greer Skelton, 90, of Pearland, Texas, formerly of St. Albans, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 18, 2019. She was born in Poca, West Virginia on July 19, 1928 and graduated from Poca High School in 1946. She was a lifelong residence of St. Albans until 2004. Adeline Skelton was a member of and active in the WV Federation of Women’s Club in St. Albans from 1958-1962 where she was District Chairman. She also loved her volunteer work with the Thomas Memorial Hospital, campaigning for Governor John D, Rockefeller in the 1970s and also worked at Coal River Insurance. She retired from the City of St. Albans in 2003 as City Treasurer after 26 years of service. Adeline also had a passion for family, entertaining, gardening, and sewing. Upon retirement she and her husband moved to Texas to be closer to her family where she presently resided. Adeline was a devoted wife, mother and friend to so many. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Jack Roy Skelton. Surviving are her son, Dr. Jack Skelton, Jr. and his wife Janet of League City, Texas; daughter, Brenda Skelton Moore of Pearland, Texas; granddaughter, Meredith Laing Xavier and her husband Yuri Xavier of Houston, Texas; grandson, John Cody Moore and his wife Corey Lynn Moore of Saratoga Springs, NY; three great grandchildren, Juliana Xavier, Chloe Xavier and John Douglas Moore; sisters, Emogene Sovine of Hurricane and Sharon Bitters and husband David of Worthington, Ohio. The family invites you to come and celebrate her long, beautiful and eventful life at 11:00 p.m. Sunday, March 24, 2019 at Cunningham Memorial Park, Upper Mausoleum Chapel in St. Albans. You may visit with the family from 10 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the funeral service at the cemetery.
