Miriam Conroy

Miriam Conroy, 72, of Saint Albans, died Thursday, February 21, 2019 at CAMC General Hospital in Charleston, WV Miriam was born August 10, 1946 in Alliance, OH to Thomas C. Wright and Elizabeth Wright (nee Gerino). She was the middle child of three girls. Possessing an infectious smile, a loving personality, and an insatiable passion for the arts, Miriam was everyone’s sweetheart and made friends easily, regardless of others’ stations in life. She graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts in 1969. She began her 25-year graphic arts career at Pittsburgh PBS station WQED, where she worked in set design for Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood. She continued her professional life as a meeting planner, where she coordinated the West Virginia Governor’s Summit on Aging and numerous other senior advocacy conferences. Miriam was also a twenty-year volunteer of local, state, and national elections—a civic duty she enjoyed. Miriam was preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Elizabeth Wright of Alliance, OH; her aunt Helen Lugar and uncle Edward Lugar of Hopewell Township, PA; and her husband of 46 years, Charles F. Conroy, Jr. She is survived by their four children: Denise Conroy of Atlanta, GA; Charles F. Conroy, III of St. Albans, WV; Sean Conroy of St. Albans, WV; and Joseph Conroy of Charleston, WV; her daughter-in-law Brandi Conroy of Charleston, WV; her son-in-law Ned Crystal of Atlanta, GA; her grandchildren Adeline and Cullen Conroy of Charleston, WV; her sister Janice Wright of Murray, KY; her sister Elizabeth (Joan) Wright of Fairmont, WV; her nephew Matthew Reynolds of Fairmont, WV; and her cousin William Ward of Silver Spring, MD. Memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm Friday, March 1, 2019 at Bartlett-Nichols Funeral Home, St. Albans with Pastor David Clark officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 2 to 4 pm prior to the memorial service. Miriam was a voracious reader.
