Steve Marcum

Steve Marcum went to Heaven on Tuesday, December 19, 2017, following a long illness. Steve was born and raised in the Highlawn area (Poplar Drive) of Saint Albans, WV. He graduated from St. Albans High School, in 1965. He enlisted in the US Air Force as a medic and was honorably discharged in 1970. He met his wife and was engaged for a full year and was married to Genevieve Marie Persely on June 5th of 1972 in Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Charleston, WV. Married for 45years. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Charleston, WV. He graduated WVSC with a BS in Biology in 1976 and worked as a Chemist for WV DNR, Water Resources Division, then as a Chemical Laboratory Technician for Union Carbide Corp. DOW bought Carbide. Few years later they down sized in 2005, and was then employed by Matric. He was a certified CPHT till he retired. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Warren Lawrence and Ethelyn Campbell Marcum; uncle, Fred Marcum Jr.; aunt, Kathryn Marcum. Steve leaves behind his loving wife, Genevieve; son, David Lawrence Marcum (wife Candace); granddaughters, Aralun and Ariana Marcum; sister, Anna Brannon (husband Delbert) and 2 nephews, Chris and Jason; uncle, Paul Marcum (wife Mary); aunt, Isabel Marcum and cousin, Doris Ann Marcum and many more family and friends. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, December 22, 2017 at Bartlett-Chapman Funeral Home, St. Albans with Delbert Brannon officiating. Burial with be in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans with military honors will be conducted by the James E. Marshall, American Legion Post 187, Winfield. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:00 pm prior to the funeral service. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Churches that feed the hungry.
