Thomas Roger Suchy

Thomas Roger Suchy passed away on January 24, 2018, after a short illness. The son of Milo and Amelia Suchy, Tom was born on June 12, 1943, and spent his childhood in Barrington Hills, Illinois. After graduation from Southern Illinois University with a degree in Automotive Technology, he was quickly recruited by the Oldsmobile Division of General Motors. Tom married his college sweetheart Lucy Meier on June 12, 1971, and freely admitted that she was the best birthday present that he ever got! Together Tom and Lucy traveled to West Virginia and settled in St. Albans, which became their home for over 47 years. While raising a family, Tom started his own company, Suchy Auto which provided automotive paint supplies to dealerships and autobody shops throughout the region and he made many friends during those 38 years in business. Tom was a long-time member of Riverlawn Presbyterian Church in St. Albans. In addition to being an animal lover and a Harley rider, Tom was also an avid skier who volunteered for many years as a mountain guide and as a member of the ski patrol at Snowshoe Resort. A man of many talents, Tom also liked “tinkering” on old cars, woodworking, gardening and he loved the time spent with his family. In addition to Lucy, also left behind to cherish his memory are his daughter, Robyn Suchy of Nashville, Tennessee, his son, Jason Suchy and daughter-in-law, Tina of St. Albans, and four highly adored grandchildren who were the light of his life, Kayla, Max, Ruby and Henry. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in memory of Tom to Christ Kitchen, 405 B Street, St. Albans, WV 25177, or Kanawha Charleston Humane Society, 1248 Greenbrier St., Charleston, WV 25311. Funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm, Sunday, January 28, 2018 at Bartlett-Chapman Funeral Home, St. Albans with Rev. Chris Kilbert officiating.
