David H. Williams

David H. Williams, 74, of Hurricane, West Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 2, 2026. Born in Beckley, West Virginia, Dave was the son of the late Dwight H. Williams and E. Marie Coots Williams. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Williams. Dave was a 1969 graduate of Nitro High School. In 1971, he was drafted into the United States Army. After his service, he pursued higher education and earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Accounting) from West Virginia University. He later continued his studies, earning a Master’s degree in Industrial Relations from the West Virginia College of Graduate Studies and a Master’s degree in Technology Management from Marshall University. Dave went on to have a long and successful career in technology and public service. He retired from Unisys in 2008 and later retired from the West Virginia State Auditor’s Office as Chief Information Officer in 2016. Dave faithfully attended Hurricane First Church of the Nazarene, where he served on the security team and enjoyed cooking for the men’s prayer breakfasts. He was an avid learner of God’s Word and lived out his faith in quiet, meaningful ways. Dave had a generous sentimental heart and a servant’s spirit. He was known for visiting those who were sick and caring for others whenever he could. When he cooked more food than he needed, he often shared it with neighbors. He was a member of American Legion Post 187 and the Lions Club. In his free time, Dave was an avid golfer and loved taking cruises and traveling the world. He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Cheryl Boholnick Williams, of Hurricane; his brother Dewey H. Williams (Tricia); and his sister Cheryl A. Williams Wilson. He was a proud uncle to Dustin H. Williams (Amber) and Jessi Hoffman (Aaron) and a cherished great-uncle to Layla Williams, Charlie Kate Hoffman, and Henry Hoffman. Visitation will be held Saturday, March 7, 2026 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., with the funeral service to follow at Hurricane First Church of the Nazarene, with Pastor Paul Whiteford officiating. Burial will take place Sunday, March 8, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Beckley, West Virginia. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dave’s memory may be made to Hurricane First Church of the Nazarene, 358 U.S. Route 60, Culloden, WV 25510. Dave will be remembered for his steady faith, his quiet acts of kindness, and the love he shared with family, friends, and neighbors. His life reflected a servant’s heart and a deep trust in the Lord.
