Dr. Deborah Ann Speidel

Dr. Deborah Ann Speidel, 72, of Poca, West Virginia went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 17, 2024, surrounded by her loving family at Thomas Memorial Hospital, South Charleston, WV. She was born in Reading, Pennsylvania to the late Harry Wesner Speidel and Mary Louise Houck Speidel. Debi graduated from Muhlenberg Twp. HS, Villanova University and Women’s Medical College of Pennsylvania and completed her residency at the Reading Hospital. She was a family practice physician in Florida for Health-First and lived in Cocoa Beach, Merritt Island, and Rockledge. Before going to college and medical school, Debi worked as a beautician, and she always took care of her appearance and was dressed to the nines. She had a talent for decorating and flower arranging. She enjoyed traveling, sailing, fishing, listening to music, being at the beach and caring for her many pets over the years. Most of all Debi enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. She loved going to Disney World and doing anything “festive." She was an active and grateful member of a 12 Step Recovery Program where she made many lasting friendships. After moving to WV in 2016, Debi enjoyed activities at the Hometown Senior Center. The family is grateful to Cindy Bright the program director at Hometown, Emily Dickerson her home caregiver, the staff at Thomas Hospital and Pulmonology Associates of Charleston, as well as Debi’s church family and her friends. Surviving are her sister Connie Ivey (Buck), brother Harry W. Speidel, II (Debra), stepbrother Craig Schofer, and her beloved dog Zoe. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 12, 2024, at the First Presbyterian Church, St. Albans with Pastor Mark Boyd officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service at the church. Those who are unable to attend can view the memorial on Facebook at First Presbyterian Church of St Albans. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Debi’s memory to Hometown Senior Center, 40 First Ave. N, Hometown, WV 25109. Debi’s ashes will be interred @ 11 AM on Friday, July 26, 2024 in the Speidel family plot at Laureldale Cemetery, 4631 Pottsville Pike, Reading, PA. A luncheon will follow.
