Diann D. Williams

Diann D. Williams, 77, a lifelong resident of St. Albans, WV gained her angel wings when she departed this earth (that she loved so much) on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, after a graceful & courageous battle with cancer. Born on August 31, 1946 in Montgomery, WV, Diann was the daughter of the late James Allen Davidson (Coach) & Rondaline (Ronnie) Nutter Davidson. Diann was a very proud alumna of St. Albans Jr. High, St. Albans High School (Class of 1964) and Marshall University. After raising her two amazing children, Diann used her degree in education to share her passion for art, knowledge and learning with many students in a variety of subjects for Kanawha County Schools. Diann loved the earth and the gifts provided to us in the world of nature. She lived by example, dedicated to environmental protection, nature conservation and healing our earth for future generations. She enjoyed incorporating her love of art with her passion for preserving our natural resources & environment by envisioning and creating many art pieces from upcycled, repurposed & recycled items to give them new, beautiful life while keeping as much as possible out of the landfills. Diann lived by Repurpose > Reuse > Recycle. She felt a strong spiritual connection to the natural world and encouraged us all to be good stewards of the gifts created for us in nature. Whenever Diann comes up in conversation or thought the words that come to mind are kind, sweet, caring, giving, thoughtful, selfless and smart! Diann spent much of her life using these gifts to care for her family with the greatest compassion, including her mother, father and stepmother in their elder years. She set a beautiful example for her daughter, Keely, to love and care for others with the same gentle compassion and thoughtfulness. She met the challenges of this life with grace, a grateful heart and the sweetest smile. No matter what she faced in this life, the never complained. Instead, she used her words to express heartfelt gratitude for all of the gifts she had been given and shared her love and light with every action. Diann was preceded in death by her mother, Rondaline (Ronnie) Nutter; father; and step mother, James Allen (Coach) & Elizabeth Lucille (Cindy) Davidson; nephew, Justin Davidson; two beloved kitties, Cloud and Fancy Girl; (plus many more fur babies she loved through the years). Left to cherish her memory and example are her daughter, Keely Williams of St. Albans; son, Lee Williams (Tracy) of South Charleston; brothers, James Allen (Jim) Davidson II (Debbie) of North Myrtle Beach, SC, Jerry Davidson (Mary) of Hobe Sound; two grandchildren, Tanner & Ashlee Williams of South Charleston, WV; aunt, Janet Harbor of Huntington, WV; nieces, Brea Nelson (Scott) of Jacksonville FL, Jennifer Beth Guss (Pete) of Jacksonville FL; 6 great nieces and nephews. Also left to charish her memory are her 8 grand dogs and grand cats who love their MawMaw more than a whole bag of treats! Our family would like to thank the wonderful people of Hospice, especially all staff at Hospice West in Thomas Hospital for their exceptional care, love and friendship. A very special thank you to two of our home caregivers (and now treasured “Aunties”), Rita and Rene for their amazing gifts of compassionate care for Diann and their loving care and support of her daughter, Keely, on this journey. Funeral service will be held at 1:oo pm Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at Bartlett-Nichols Funeral Home, St. Albans with Pastor Richie McNiel officiating. Burial will follow in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers we ask that donations be made to a charity supporting Diann’s lifelong passion of environmental stewardship like Greenpeace, Arbor Day Foundation and World Wildlife Fund.
