Nancy Louise Hill

Nancy Louise Hill, 91, of Nitro, WV peacefully went to sleep and awoke in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, May 28, 2026. Nancy was a graduate of St. Albans High School, class of 1952. She faithfully attended Teays Valley Church of God until she was no longer physically able to do so. She enjoyed cross-stitching with her friends at Village Sampler. Many of her beautiful projects received “Best of Show” honors, along with numerous first-place ribbons, at the West Virginia State Fair. Nancy loved the Lord and faithfully served Him through music. For many years, she taught piano lessons in her home. She also played the piano and organ for several churches throughout the Kanawha Valley, as well as for various gospel groups – most notably, the Jesus Jubilees. For more than 35 years, she faithfully played for Church of God camp meeting each summer. She also loved singing at church whenever she had the opportunity. Through her God-given talents, Nancy blessed countless lives over the years. Nancy was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Paul B. Hill; her parents, Frenchie and Mabel Ferrell; her brother, Richard Ferrell and her great granddaughter, Kathryn Jane Russell. What a precious reunion they must be enjoying. Nancy is survived by her brother, Robbie Ferrell (Debbie) of Era, Texas; her sister-in-law, Roberta McConnell and family; and her three children, Richard Hill (Beverly and family) of St. Albans, Jennifer Ritter of St. Albans, and Suzie Russell (Jack) of Nitro. She is also survived by five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. The family would especially like to thank Mom’s caregiver of two years, Ginger Tompkins-Belcher. Ginger faithfully cared for Mom and became a dear friend to her. They enjoyed watching television together, playing UNO, and sharing Ginger’s delicious ice cream floats – which Mom especially loved! The family also wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff at Hubbard Hospice House. They are truly remarkable people who cared for Mom – and for all of us – with such compassion and kindness. We believe they are “walking angels,” and we are deeply grateful for their guidance, expertise, and loving care. A celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2026 at Bartlett-Nichols Funeral Home, St. Albans with Pastor David Bowen and Chaplain Pete Thompson. Burial will follow in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans The family will receive friends from 12 to 1:00 p.m. Wednesday prior to the funeral service.
