Paul Monroe Taylor, II

Paul Monroe Taylor, II, of Hurricane, formerly of St. Albans, WV passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at his home. He was the only child of the late Paul M. Taylor and Inez J. Miles Taylor. Married to the late Sherry Ann Taylor. Paul was a football player and graduate of Stonewall Jackson High School, class of 1964. Graduate of West Virginia State College. He served as a Tech Sargent in Civil Engineering flight with Air National Guard with 15 years of service. He enjoyed drag racing, Nascar Races, holiday football games on television with family, going to Esquire dances with Sherry and meeting up with friends. Going on family vacations to Pigeon Forge and Myrtle Beach, SC. Many of the kids’ friends and neighbors knew him for his famous late night lawn mowing, often jokingly referred to as his “moonlight mowing”. He also loved his milkshakes and sweet but mainly Reece Cups. He served as an assistant coach for the Black Knights Little League during the time his son played football. A member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church, St. Albans, WV, was a boy scout growing up. He is retired from SKF USA Inc. after 39 years. Also worked for GE Ray Construction Company and Evans Supermarket. He is survived by his son, Eric Taylor (Betsy Ayers) of Barboursville and daughter, Destiny Taylor of Scott Depot; grandchildren, Christopher Drew Taylor (Ashley), Olivia Taylor, Griffin Taylor, Sophia Taylor, Taylor Miles (Ashley), Madison Ayers Byers (Austin), Bryar Ayers; great grandchildren, Aria, Hudson, Lennox, Brody, Ivy, Everleigh, Gage and Avery. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 31, 2026 at Bartlett-Nichols Funeral Home, St. Albans. Burial will follow in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
