Saundra Sue Dingess

Saundra Sue Mayes Dingess, our beloved matriarch, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends on September 4th. Her childhood sweetheart and husband, Mr. Ronald Paul Dingess Sr., is now without his beloved bride and the mother of their two sons. The eldest and surviving son, Mr. Ronald Paul Dingess Jr.(Kayla) is a resident of Davie, Florida. The youngest son, Mr. Brian Keith Dingess of Bloomingdale, GA had previously passed and is now reunited with his mother. Born August 28, 1941, Sue's life started humbly in a converted box car turned home at the Koppers Coal Company in MacDunn, WV. During her teenage years she found her love of dance by attending sock hops at her high school, in Van WV. In 1959 she married the man of her dreams at an impromptu ceremony in Ripley, WV. As a working mother, she kept an amazingly organized home and worked as a school bus driver for Kanawha County Schools. While her children were young her home became the hub of activity for the neighborhood kids. A concrete basement floor turned roller rink kept a steady flow of children in and out of her door and she loved each one of them. All of those children grown now, many would still stop by and visit throughout the years. Sue left a lasting impact on everyone she came in contact with. There was nothing Sue loved more than her family. Her two beautiful granddaughters, Mrs. Christina Elaine Fuller (Brian) of Hurricane, WV and Ms. Kaitlin Noel Dingess (Justin) of South Charleston, WV were the jewels in her crown. Their days were filled with dance lessons, homework, and summer fun. However, the arrival of her first and only great grandchild, Miss Emma Elaine Fuller made her life complete. She is also survived by family friends Mrs. Jennifer Lou Good Dingess and Mrs. Dianna Gail Hudson of St Albans WV whom she taught many things and loved deeply. So many memories have been made with and because of Sue and her touch. Perfectly decorated Christmas trees that she would fuss over for hours until just right; Halloweens full of costumes and candy and hours of Hocus Pocus; Thanksgivings where she would spend days baking homemade treats specifically for each if us; birthdays full of presents and waving her flag every 4th of July. She was an amazing woman and this family is forever changed. We know that Heavens gate will be gleaming brightly from her hand when we see her again. Her life will be celebrated at the Bartlett-Nichols Funeral Home in Saint Albans on Sunday September 8th. Visitation is from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and services at 3:00 p.m. Flowers, cards and condolences may be sent to the family via the funeral home.
