Sheila Jean Ganoe

Sheila Jean Connon Ganoe, 65 of Tornado, went to her Heavenly Home on September 19, 2024. Born on September 27, 1958, Sheila was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister who brought immense joy and support to her family and community. Sheila was a proud member of the 1976 graduating class of St. Marys High School and furthered her education at WV Rehabilitation Center, where she worked for many years. She learned American Sign Language and helped many deaf and hearing-impaired individuals throughout her career. In later years she assisted vision-impaired senior citizens across West Virginia, a role she cherished deeply, finding great fulfillment in the happiness and independence she brought to “Her” seniors. Sheila was a very loving person. She loved her family and the farm where she was raised. She loved her sons, and was a constant support for them. She adored her grandkids. They were the light of her life. She was a member of Humphrey’s United Methodist Church; Sheila’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. Her kindness and loving nature extended beyond her family and into every community she was a part of. Sheila was known for her vibrant spirit, especially in her role as “MawMaw”. She delighted in baking cookies and engaging in fun activities with her grandchildren, and celebrating their achievements, often sharing these precious moments on Facebook. She loved to sing, and was the director of her church choir and a member of the Singing Christmas Tree in her hometown of St. Marys. She drove 4 hours round trip each week for practice. Sheila also had a passion for yard sales, flea markets, and auctions, and in her later years, she became an avid reader. Sheila is survived by her loving husband, Mark Ganoe; sons, Douglas (Amanda) and Daniel (Margie); grandchildren, Jeremiah, Sydney, Liam, Nolan, Karson, Kole, Anden, Aubriona and Autumn; sisters, Shari (Ed) Dawson of Lost Creek and Shelli (Rick) Beck of St. Marys; brother, Brian (Gillian) of Mandeville, LA; uncle, Ron (Barb) Connon of Au Gres, MI; special daughters in law, Steph, Sam, Nautica and Desarae; her dear friend Pat; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Douglas D. Connon and Margaret Ann Hess Connon, and her infant daughter, Mary Ann. Sheila’s life was a testament to her unwavering love and the profound impact she had on those around her. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished in the memories of her loved ones and all who knew her. Funeral service will be at 7:00pm Friday September 27, 2024 at Bartlett-Nichols Funeral Home, St. Albans. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Mount Harmony Masonic Cemetery, Pennsboro, WV, at 11:00 am, Saturday September 28, 2024.
